Spherical silver nanoparticles were synthesized by reducing aqueous silver nitrate (AgNO3) solution with Magnolia leaf extracts. The silver nanoparticles synthesized were surrounded by a thin layer of some capping materials and thus were stable in solution during several months after their synthesis. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis showed that the possible capping materials were hydrocarbons with high carbon numbers.
