Most of appraisals of artistic works have been heavily depended upon the intuition without taking into any consideration of scientific judgement and estimation processes as somewhat quantitative.
With increasing needs of objectifying the appraisal of arts, this experimental analysis is, therefore, to aim to enhance the objectified recognition of artistic works from the viewpoint of colors by comparing the results of intuitive appraisal and of quantitaive analysis on 6 pieces of representative American amish quilts those are chosen for their characteristic elements of the modern formative arts.
The quantitaive results obtained by applying both Tonal Description Model and Mutual Information Model on these quilts have proved to conincide with those of intutive judgemets including stability.
