한,미 지역일간지 1면 기사 콘텐츠의 구성방식 비교 분석: 기사의 유형, 구조, 내용 그리고 사진 및 인포그래픽 제시방법 등을 중심으로 = A comparison of the way of composing news contents on the front pages of local newspapers that are being published in South Korea and the United States: Focus on the types of news articles, the forms of news writing, photos and infographic

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 한국의 5개 지역일간지(<강원도민일보>, <대전일보>, <제주일보>, <한라일보>, <제민일보>)와 미국의 3개 지역일간지(<The Spokesman- Review>, <The Lewiston Tribune>, <Moscow-Pullman Daily News>) 등 모 두 8개 신문 1면 기사를 대상으로 뉴스 콘텐츠 구성방식에 어떠한 차이가 있는지 를 알아보기 위해 내면적 요소와 외형적 구성요소 등을 비교 분석했다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 한.미 지역신문 1면 기사의 유형, 구성방식 그리고 기사내용 의 성격 등에 있어 신문들간 유의미한 차이가 있음을 확인하였다. 즉, 한국신문들 1면에는 기사의 질적 수준이 낮다고 평가되는 스트레이트 뉴스와 속보성 정보전달 을 위해 개발된 역삼각형 기사 그리고 경성적 뉴스가 압도적으로 많았다. 둘째, 1 면 기사의 제시방법(사진, 표, 지도, 그래프, 삽화, 로그/심볼, 컷 등)을 분석한 결 과, 미국신문들은 한국신문들에 비해 사실을 과장하거나 오도할 수 있는 삽화, 표, 컷 등을 거의 사용하지 않은 대신 지면을 미화시키고 현장감을 생생히 전달할 수 있는 사진들을 2배 이상 많이 사용한 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 한국신문들 1면의 인물사진은 한국사회가 여러 측면에서 다원화되고 민주화가 이루어져 있음에도 불 구하고 여전히 특정 계층과 성별-대통령을 비롯한 주요 공직자들과 남성-에 지나치게 편중되어 있음이 발견되었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to compare the way of composing news contents on the front pages of local newspapers that are being published in South Korea and the United States. Those newspapers looked into were <Jeju Ilbo>, <Halla Ilbo>, <Jemin Ilbo>, <Daejeon Ilbo> and <Kang Won Domin Iibo> from South Korea, and <The Spokesman-Review>, <The Lewiston Tribune> and <Moscow- Pullman Daily News> from the United States. As a result, there were significant differences among the local newspapers from Korea and the United States in the types of news articles, the forms of news writing and the style of news story. The articles of front pages of Korean newspapers were standardized in the types of news articles and relied on the inverted pyramid form of news writing that was developed to report news much faster. Second, seeing the result of analyzing the way of presenting news articles such as photos, tables, maps, graphs, illustrations, log/symbols, and cut, etc., the US local newspapers restricted the use of illustrations, tables, and cut that might exaggerate or mislead the facts unlike the Korean local newspapers. Instead, the US local newspapers were utilizing photos that could appear better and delivering the scene realistically. On the other hand, certain groups of people and gender were still being used on the front page portraits of the Korean local newspapers, for example, key officials including the president and men although Korean society has diversified in many respects and been democratic.
