미국 중도·중복 장애학생의 삶에 관한 질적 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 미국 펜실베니아주 스테이트 칼리지 학군에 소속되어 있는 공립학교 중도·중복 장애학생들의 삶의 질에 대한 연구로서 사회구성원으로서의 삶과 개별인간으로서의 삶을 파악하기 위한 현상학적 질적연구이다. 연구기간은 2013년 2월 11일부터 2014년 1월 10일까지이며 연구대상은 중도·중복 장애학생과 그와 관련된 전문인과 비장애학생을 포함한 38명이었다. 데이터 수집은 연구자 2인의 관찰과 심층면담으로 이루어졌으며 데이터 분석은 상시비교 분석방법을 사용하였다. 그 결과는 14개의 범주와 6개의 하위주제, 2개의 주제가 도출되었다. 사회구성원으로서의 삶은 ‘장애학생도 우리학교 학생이다’, ‘장애학생도 내 절친한 친구이다’, ‘장애학생도 이웃사촌이다’라는 하위주제가 도출되었고 개별인간으로서의 삶은 ‘장애학생도 혼자서 해보려고 한다’, ‘장애학생도 자신의 생각을 표현하려고 한다’, ‘장애학생도 또래들처럼 치장하고 싶어한다’라는 하위주제가 도출되었다. 본 연구는 미국 중도·중복 장애학생의 사회구성원으로서의 삶과 개별인간으로서 삶을 살펴봄으로써 한국의 중도·중복 장애학생의 삶의 질을 높이기 위한 조건들을 제시하였다는데 의의를 둘 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This is study about quality of life of public school students with severe and multiple disabilities in Pennsylvania State College Area School District, and this is phenomenological research to survey their lives as personal human being and social members. Study had done from Feb. 11th, 2013 to Jan. 10th, 2014. eight persons of school students with severe and multiple disabilities, specialists, and students without disabilities joined the study. Data was collected by two persons observation and semi-structured interviews, and data was analyzed by constant comparative method. As study results, 14 categories, 6 sub-theme, and 2 theme came out. As life of social members, there are sub-theme such as ‘our school students,’ ‘fiend of mine’ and ‘my good neighbor.’ As life of personal human being, there are sub-theme such as ‘they let me do by themselves,’ ‘they try to show their idea,’ and ‘they want to make up themselves as much as peers do.’ Such study results have meaning to present conditions to improve life quality of students with severe and multiple disabilities in Korea on the study of students with severe and multiple disabilities in America.
