下廬 黃德吉 漢詩 一考 = A Study of Haryeo Hwang Deokgil's Chinese Poetry

Haryeo Hwang Deokgil is a representative intellectual and scholar of the Southerners of Metropolitan who was active from the mid-18th century to the early 19th century. He did not have any intention of entering the office for a lifetime and lived a life of the general public, but he trained many scholars as a disciple of Sunam Anjeongbok along with his old brother Gongbaekdang Hwang Deogil, and later played a decisive role in establishing the Seongho School's Sunam faction.
Hwang Deokgil seems to have a conservative and traditional perception of literature, especially poetry, which can be a tool to contribute to human moral discipline and behavior. Although he did not deny the creation of poetry or see poetry as useless, he denied pure literary and literary poetry that did not contribute to human morality or real life. In this regard, he recognized poetry as a tool for auxiliary and instrumental functions The poems of Hwang Deokgil, identified to date, are all 77title 122poetic works. Among them, the ancient poems are 44title 72poetic works and the modern-style poems are 35title 50poetic works, so the ancient poems are more than the modern-style poems. In addition, the tendency of creating five word poem is dominant, and the tendency of creating a Chinese quatrain is dominant among modern-style poetry. In terms of contents, Chinese poetry of Hwang Deokgil has similarities in that most poems are for morality, training and learning, whether they are ancient poems or modern-style poetry.
However, some of the modern-style poetry also contain personal emotions such as the excitement, waiting and leisure of travel.
