      This paper is aimed to investigate fundamental phenomenon by aerobic digestion process in night-soil treatment experimentally. First of all, digestion time is divided into 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25days and return sludge rate is also divided into 15, 30, 45 and 60% in order to investigate optimum digestion time and return sludge rate.
      In the following, according to the determined digestion time and return sludge rate, observations on alteration of physical and chemecal characteristics of night-soils under the semi-continuous experiments are carried out.
      The followings are results of this experimental study;
      1) Diserable digestion time is 15 days in aerobic digestion of night-soil, but the settlement of sludge is bad.
      2) In case of 15 days digestion time, 15% of influent quantity is proper as return sludge rate, but in the case, the settlement of sludge is also bad.
      3) In the case of 15 days digestion time and 15% return sludge rate
      (1) Between 5 and 10 days, PH attained the peak. After the peak, PH is decreased gradually.
      (2) The range of PH is about 7.20 to 8.55. Therefore, management of PH is not needed.
      (3) Most of all BOD is remved within 5 days.
      (4) The removal of nitrogen is excellent.
      4) When night-soil is treated by aerobic digestion process, study on adeqate dillution rate is requird because BOD of night-soil is very high in Korea.
