의과대학 인문사회의학 교과목 통합교육과정 비교 = A Comparative Study on the Integrative Curriculum of Liberal Social Medicine in Major Medical School

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 고등교육의 영역 중 전문직업교육에서 교양교육이 지니는 의미를 탐구하고 발전방안을 모색함으로써 전문교육의 궁극적 원리와 방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 인문사회의학 교과목을 의과대학 전문직업 교육과정의 핵심 교양 교육과정으로 보고 그 내용을 조사하여 미국 의과대학과 비교하여 필요한 제언을 제공하고자 하였다. 인문사회의학 교과목이 의학 교육의 테두리 내에서 통합적, 통섭적 교육과정을 형성하고 있으며 이 과정을 통해 효율적이고 자율적인 자질을 연마하여 기초의학 및 임상경험 뿐 아니라 교양 교육과 문제해결 능력을 기르도록 하고 있다. 본 연구는 의학교육에서 인문사회의학이라는 교양교육이 지니는 의미와 목적에 대해 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 교양교육의 목적은 의학적 기술 능력과 함께 비판적이고 창의적인 지적 능력을 가진 자유인의 육성을 추구해야 한다. 둘째, 전인 육성을 전제하는 교육이 되어야 한다. 전문직업교육에 있어서도 대학 교육의 목적인 지적능력을 지닌 자유인으로의 육성 뿐 아니라 동시에 이성의 범위를 확장하여 정서적, 심미적, 직관적 기술과 도덕적 태도 등을 갖춘 전체적인 발달을 추구해야 할 것이다. 이를 위해 인문사회의학 교과목이 우리나라 의과대학에서 필수적인 교양 교육 과정으로서 그 목적과 목표를 개선하고 지속적으로 개발되어야 할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study is intended to suggest the principles and directions in medical education through inquiring the meaning and operating method of general education. The author examined the history and philosophy and the theories of general education which is expressed as liberal-social medicine, and found it`s essential meaning and purposes. For the purpose, the author compared the general education curriculum of major universities in Korea and the United States, analyzed the merits and the demerits, and made suggestion for desired curricular changes in Korean medical schools. In the study, it made conclusion about the meaning and purposes of general education as follows: First, the purpose of general education should pursue making a intellectually developed free person. It is necessary for medical school to cultivate students` intellectual abilities to adjust themselves to rapidly changing knowledge and environment. Second, the purpose of general education should pursue making a whole person. Medical schools should develop the whole of the personality through the realm of emotional, intuitive and moral attitudes for medical profession.
