기형도의 사후 주체와 거리두기 전략 = The Subject after Event/Death and Distancing Strategy in Gi Hyeong-do

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper suggests that Gi Hyeong-do’s Poetry in the 1980s is related to the reflection on the first-person genre grammar and strategy of distancing as its alternative. This paper aims to demonstrate the aesthetic and ethical implications of poetic strategy of Gi Hyeong-do. The woker’s Poetry in the 1980s shared ‘first-person genre grammar’ with traditional lyric poetry and closely related to ‘authenticity discourse’ of modern literature. The authenticity achieved by the language of the ‘worker-poet’ was due to the first-person grammar of ‘poet = speaker’ and the collective identity of the 1980s. However, Gi Hyeong-do sought the existential identity of the urban individual as the language of the ‘intellectual - poet’, which was a distance from the field and voice. His aesthetic strategy can be said to be ‘distancing’ to resist the identification of the first-person. The distancing in his poetry is realized in a way that opens up a temporal gap, in which ‘the subject after event/death’ appears. ‘The subject after event/death’ is the subject that comes after an event and the subject of writing that looks back and constructs the event at the point of record. It is an aesthetic strategy to resist the identification of lyric poetry, an ontological base to penetrate the inside of human existence, and the ethical possibility to contemplate the relationship between the subject and the other.
