In the present study, a theoretical approach is suggested to design condenser using R718. Unlike a common condensers using R134a, vapor of R718 has an extremely high specific volume (e.g. about 1000 times greater than that of R134a). In this reason, it is difficult to use shell-and-tube type condenser with R718. Therefore, a condenser in the form of a square chamber was devised, and the number of tubes was determined through the design of the single-phase section and the two-phase section. Finally, a Corrugate tube arranged in 10 rows required the smallest number of the tubes to achieve a total heat transfer rate of 415 ㎾.
