살가도 사진의 도상성과 다큐멘터리 휴머니즘 = Sebastiao Salgado`s Iconography and Documentary Photography Humanism

As Mark Rothko said tragic experience is a basic source of art, Sebastiao Salgado represented tragic narrative scene of Africa, Latin America and other abandoned region with christian iconography mood. Salgado trained as an economist, later he changed his career as a photographer after seeing the tragic painful labor worker. While he took a coffee plant workers photo as an economist, his passion for photographs became obsession. He represent that the highly industrialized world is approaching to the people over the earth, many people remained as not becoming consumer, only labor worker. The destiny of men and women expect dreams, adapt new world, resist reality and survive through the melancholic pathos. His work is conceived as a path to humanism through the realistic documentary with christian iconography mood. It shows humanity``s rediscovery of itself in nature and changed pain into sublime with his angle. 『Genesis』is back-to-nature project, combining elements of the literary pastoral sublime based on melancholy. Negative melancholic pathos changed despair into optimistic energy of individual life and Society. Salgado``s documentary photography based on Melancholic pathos lead us to the humanism level with christianity. Even though many art critic condemned that glorified aesthetic photo used for personal advantage and fame. But glorified aesthetic picture lead us to the humanism level, that is the photograph``s language way and justice of photo. The individual and society``s negative melancholic pathos make new energy to have a human being``s dignity.
