This study is to examine empirically whether the performance assessment through portfolio techniques affects the students’ learning attitudes and inquiry skills in social studies.
For this study, 160 students of a girls’ academic high school were sampled and divided into two groups of the experimental group introducing portfolio techniques and the control group without the techniques. And the data of their learning attitudes and inquiry skills were analyzed by t-test.
The results of the study show that there are significant differences between the experimental group and the control group.
In conclusion, this study reveals that execution of the performance assessment through portfolio techniques in social studies is effective in all the sides of the students’ learning attitudes and inquiry skills.
