Livestock wastewater is one of the major environmental pollution problems in Korea. With its high organic and nutrients loads, its optimum treatment is not easy in spite of the good potential technology of recycling. HYCEM was developed to meet the requirements of the treatment and recycling of the livestock wastewater. HYCEM consists of pretreatment process by centrifuge, biological treatment process of HYCEM-AN(hybrid anaerobic digester), nitrification reactor, and SBR reactor, and post-treatment process by physicochemical polishing process. HYCEM has several alternative cases for application as follows : Firstly. it could treat the livestock wastewater to meet the effluent standard of local water system. Secondly, it could be used as an alternative treatment for the effluent that could be further treated in a municipal wastewater treatment plant. Finally, the effluent of HYCEM-AN could be applied to farmland as a liquefied fertilizer with high quality. Therefore HYCEM is a friendly-environmental technology that could solve the problem of treatment of livestock wastewater and coincidentally could use the effluent as a liquefied fertilizer.
