Because of its bad odor and dull color squid liver oil is not readily edible and can be used only as a low grade oil.
In this work, the improved methods based on prior research on fish oil have been applied to the problem of deodorizing and decolorizing for squid liver oil. It was found that squid liver oil can be made edible by a combination of acid clay for decoloration and ethanol, boric acid and citric acid for deodorization. Squid liver oil has higher Vitamin A content than other food was also found.
