Gasification is a technology that converts solid biomass to fuel gas. It is a simple and economic process to generate power in rural areas. Gasification not only transfer lignin biomass to syngas but also makes waste plastic to syngas. Solid waste such as plastic waste is difficult to break down but gasification is a good way to deal with these materials. RDF (refuse-derived fuel) is made from solid waste. The advantages for co-gasification of RDF and biomass is waste disposal with plastic and produce high LHV syngas through the gasification. In this work RDF and woodchip mixture gasification was conducted through a downdraft gasifier system. The influence of the reaction parameters, such as reactor temperature, feed size, gas flow rate and syngas composition were investigated. The highest calorific value syngas was obtained with 1547.8kcal/Nm3 when RDF ratio was 20%. The methane ration of syngas composition reached 12.4%. It was found that calorific value of syngas was promoted because methane production was obviously improved compared to woodchip gasification. Co-gasification with RDF seems promised to decreased syngas production cost and converse solid waste to energy resource.
