The concept of conceptual ecology helps the understanding of the nature of children`s conceptions about natural phenomena. The purpose of this study was to investigate children`s conceptual ecologies on evaporation. Major findings about children`s conceptual ecologies on evaporation are as follows. 1. Conceptual ecology is a way of looking at the world which leads to a conception of what the world look like, both of which provide learners with the foundations and limitations for the selection of conceptions in answering questions. 2. Those portions of the children`s ecologies that were concerned with the children`s views of what school expected of them, for these were directly related to their answers to the questions. 3. The children`s answers and reasons relied on an authority as a way of validating knowledge, and that children`s associated teachers in positions of authority with power. To design more effective teaching for conceptual change, children`s conceptual ecologies should be investigated.
