The purpose of this study was to explore the effect of maternal role and father's care participation perceived by mother on maternal enactment in day care center. Subjects of this study were 284 mothers of three to seven-year-old children. The method of this study was questionnaire which was composed of socio demographics, role perception and enactment. Maternal role perception and enactment were measured by self-development, academic guidance, support, arbitration and make-decisions.
The results of this study were as follows.
1. Mother perceived highly the importance of role, but their actual enactment were moderate.
2. There were significant differences in maternal role perception of involvement according to the mother's native place and the level of family income. There were significant difference in maternal role enactment according to the level of family income and the style of day care center.
3. The maternal role enactment was different significantly in maternal perception on father's care participation. That is, the maternal role enactment has appeared to be high when maternal perception on father's care participation is high.
4. There was relationship between maternal role perception and enactment.
That is, the maternal role enactment appears to be high when maternal role perception is high.
