일타 대율사의 계율 선양 활동

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 고찰은 한국 현대불교사에서 율사로 널리 알려진 동곡당 일타의 계 율사상 진작 활동을 정리한 논고이다. 일타가 율사로서 행한 업적, 의의, 성격 등은 다양하지만 지금껏 학술적으로 정리하지 못했다. 이에 이런 점 을 인식한 필자는 일타의 계율 선양 활동을 몇 개의 주제로 대별하여 정 리하였다. 그 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 조계종의 통합종단(1962) 이후, 종회의원으 로서의 활동을 정리하였다. 그는 종회의원으로 계단법 제정, 승려 가사색 의 결정 등을 주도하였다. 둘째, 해인총림 율원에서 활동 및 위상을 정리 했다. 그는 해인율원을 출범케 하고, 그 책임자(율주)로 있으면서 후배 율 사들을 양성하였다. 셋째, 『수계의범』을 비롯한 다양한 수계에 대한 책을 번역, 보급하여 종단의 수계의식을 일상화시켰다. 넷째, 포살 낭송본을 번 역하고 보급하여 포살의 대중화를 추진하였다. 승단의 참회, 성찰의식을 고양하였다. 이와 같은 내용을 정리한 이 고찰이 일타, 해인총림, 율원, 수계의식 등 에 대한 연구에 참고가 되길 기대한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study is a treatise that summarizes the activities of Donggokdang Ilta(동곡당 일타), who is widely known as a preceptor in Korean modern Buddhist history, to promote precepts. Ilta's achievements, significance, and personality as a preceptor are diverse, but have not been academically summarized so far. Recognizing this point, the author divided Ilta's precepts promotion activities into several themes and organized them. The contents are as follows. First, activities as a member of the Jogye Order were organized after the unified order of the Jogye Order(1962). As a member of the secular assembly, he led the enactment of the law of platform Act and the decision on the color of the monk's house. Second, the activities and status of Haein Chongrim Yulwon were summarized. He started Haein Yulwon and trained younger masters while serving as its head(율주). Third, by translating and distributing books on various disciplines, including Sugye Uibeom, the ritual of ordination of religious orders was made common. Fourth, the popularization of Posal was promoted by translating and distributing the Posal recitation. He raised the consciousness of penitence and introspection of the monks. It is hoped that this study, which summarizes the contents, will serve as a reference for research on Ilta, Haeinchongrim, Yulwon, and Sugye Ritual.
