The objectives of this work are to investigate the effect of pH on the corrosion behaviour of carbon steel pipe in district heating(DH) circulation-water. As the solution(80 ℃) pH increased more than 9, the uniform corrosion and localized corrosion of carbon steel were suppressed by the formation of passive film (Fe₃O₄). The mechanism of the passive film formation was demonstrated by the study of Pourbaix diagram change in accordance with the increase of solution temperature.
