카쉬미르 샤이비즘(Kashmir Saivism)의 수행론 = On The 3 Upayas in the Kashmir Saivism

국문 초록 (Abstract)

카쉬미르 샤이비즘은 개체(jiva)를 우주적 의식(siva)이 응축된 존재로 본다. 그래서 이 사상에서 개체와 절대 사이의 본질적 차이는 없다. 다만 우주적 의식의 절대적 자유(svatantrya)가 제한된 존재가 개체이다. 그렇기 때문에 이 사상에서 수행은 개체의 제한된 의식을 우주적 의식의 수준으로 확장시키는 것이다. 이 과정에 따른 카쉬미르 샤이비즘의 수행법이 3종 방편, 즉 신의 방편, 힘의 방편, 개체의 방편이다. 신의 방편이란 수행자의 의식 수준이 쉬바의 의식 수준에 도달하여 의식과 우주의 통일성에 대한 깨달음을 앞둔 상태의 수행자들에게 적용되는 수행법이다. 이 의식 수준은 일체의 분별이 없는 무분별의 상태이기 때문에 구체적인 수행법이 없다. 힘의 방편이란 어느 정도의 삼매를 통달하여 외적 대상 보다는 주로 심리적인 내적 대상들에 대한 통찰을 하는 수행자들의 수행법이다. 개체의 방편이란 아직 이원적 분별에 머무르는 수행자들이 이것과 저것, 나와 대상을 분별하는 상태에서 하는 일상적인 구체적 수행법들이다. 그러나 카쉬미르 샤이비즘의 해탈이란 단지 신의 방편의 의식 상태를 성취하는데 있는 것이 아니라, 우주가 곧 쉬바이고 그것이 곧 진정한 나라는 깨달음을 얻는데 있다. 이와 같은 3종 방편을 인도 전통의 4위설에 배대한다면 개체의 방편은 일상위와 몽위, 힘의 방편은 제 3위인 숙면위, 신의 방편은 제 4위(turiya), 해탈의 경지는 4위의 초월(turyatita)에 배대할 수 있을 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Kashmir śaiva argue that the individual(jīva) is condensed from the universal consciousness(śiva), so there is no difference between the individual and the universal consciousness in a view of ontology. The only difference is just that the individual has not the absolute power(svātantrya) which only the absolute śiva(parama śiva) has. So the aim of Kashmir śaiva practices is to expand the indiviual s consciousness to śiva consciousness. So along the courses to expand cousciousness, there are three kinds categories of practices in Kashmir śaivism. These are the means of god(sambhava-upaya), the means of power(śakti-upāya), and the means of individual(anava-upāya). The means of god is for the yogi who has already experienced the śiva consciousness, just remains to realize the unity between the universal consciousness and the individuality. The means of power is for the yogi who has had many experiences of samādhi, so the supports of his concentration are the range of internal objects as like jñānendriya, buddhi, ahaṃkāra, manas. The means of individual is for the yogi who has the thought-construction(vikalpa), so divides this, that, I, and you etc. The many practices which we see in general as like the concentration on the breath, mantra, haṭhayoga etc. belong to this means. But the true aim of Kashmir śaiva practice is not the achievement of the level of the means of god, but to get the moksa which is to realize that I am siva, siva is everything, so I am everything.
