가족식사 빈도가 청소년의 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향 : 부모와의 의사소통의 매개효과 검증 = The Influence of family meal frequency on the Life Satisfaction of Adolescents : Mediating Effect of Communication with Parents

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 가족식사 빈도와 청소년의 삶의 만족도 간 관계에 있어 부모와의 의사소통이 매개변인으로 작용하는지를 구조방정식 모형으로 규명하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 2010년도 ‘청소년의 가족의식․가정생활 실태조사’ 에서 수집된 전국 중․고등학생 6,979명의 자료를 이용하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 아버지 또는 어머니와 함께하는 가족식사 빈도와 의사소통이 청소년의 삶의 만족도에 유의한 영향을 미쳤고, 부모와의 가족식사 빈도는 부모와의 의사소통에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 둘째, 가족식사 빈도와 삶의 만족도 간 관계에서 부모와의 의사소통은 매개변인으로 작용하였고 그 효과는 통계적으로 유의하였다. 이 매개경로 중 어머니 쪽보다는 아버지 쪽 경로계수가 더 크게 나타났다. 셋째, 부분매개모형이 완전매개모형보다 적합한 모형으로 지지되어 가족식사가 청소년의 삶의 만족도에 간접효과 뿐 아니라 직접효과도 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 청소년의 삶의 만족도를 제고하기 위해 가족식사와 같은 기본적인 일상이 매우 중요하며, 가족식사가 의사소통이라는 매개변인을 통해 삶의 만족도를 높이는 데 기여한다는 사실을 밝힌 데 의의가 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to explore the mediating effect of parent-adolescent communication on the relation between family meal frequency and adolescent’s life satisfaction. Data included 6,979 adolescents from '2010 Korean Survey on the Familial Consciousness of Youth and Parents' conducted by Korean Youth Policy Institute (KYPI).
First, the structural equation model showed that the frequency of family meals and communication with father or mother had significant effects on adolescent’s life satisfaction. Second, communication with father or mother significantly mediated the influence of family meal frequency on adolescent’s life satisfaction. The mediation path for fathers had larger standardized coefficients than for mothers. Third, the partial mediation effect model showed a better model fit than the complete mediation effect model. In other words, the family meal frequency had both indirect and direct effects for adolescent’s life satisfaction.
Results suggested that we should pay attention to the importance of sharing daily family meals to improve adolescents' life satisfaction. Also worth noting was the role of communication with parents as a hidden path through which the family meal affected adolescents' life satisfaction.
