도시외교의 현황과 과제에 대한 고찰 - 전북특별자치도와 부산광역시 사례를 중심으로 - = Consideration on the current status and challenges of city diplomacy: Focusing on the cases of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province and Busan Metropolitan City

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As we enter the era of globalization, democratization is progressing and local autonomy is being realized, and urban diplomacy is emerging as a major actor in real international politics. If the emergence of international organizations has been a catalyst for weakening national sovereignty, it is noteworthy that a new field called urban diplomacy is emerging in the international community as the era of democratization and local autonomy begins. 21st century urban diplomacy is greatly contributing to urban development and the formation of urban communities through various policies such as public diplomacy, economy, logistics, and transportation. In Korea, the metropolitan area and the southeast region are playing the role of regional centers, and new urban diplomacy actors are emerging as the Jeonbuk Special Autonomous Province is established in 2024. In particular, Busan is pursuing a Northeast Asian hub through large-scale development strategies and urban diplomacy, using the 2030 World Expo as an opportunity. In the future, megacities will act as important actors in the international community along with countries, and there is no doubt that urban diplomacy will be at the center of it.
