Aluminum clad sheets are widely used as automotive condenser fins due to their high specific strength and thermal conductivity. In the present study, Al-Mn-Zn alloys are strip-cast and used as core alloys for aluminum clad sheets. Transition elements such as Cu and Cr are added to the core alloys in order to improve the properties of aluminum clad sheets. The AA4343/Al-Mn-Zn-X(X: Cu, Cr)/AA4343 clad sheets are fabricated by the roll bonding process and further cold-rolled down to the thickness of 0.08 mm with intermediate annealing. Sag resistance is greatly improved by addition of both Cu and Cr element. Tensile strength of as-rolled and brazing heat-treated clad is increased only by Cu addition.
