누가 - 행전에 나타난 나눔의 윤리

국문 초록 (Abstract)

누가-행전이 재물의 올바른 사용에 관하여 깊은 관심을 드러내고 있다는 사실은 잘 알려진 바와 같다. 이 논문은 재물의 올바른 사용(혹은 부적절한 사용)을 권장(혹은 책망)하는 누가-행전에 포함된 다양한 본문들을 개괄적으로 살펴보면서, 누가-행전 저자가 재물의 사용과 관련하여 제시하고 있는 윤리는 궁극적으로 ‘나눔’의 윤리임을 보여준다. 누가-행전의 저자는 한편으로는 나눔의 윤리를 방해하는 요소로서 ‘욕심’과 ‘무관심’을 들고 있으며, 그 결과는 비극적 종말임을 분명히 보여준다. 이를 통해 저자는 재물의 부적절한 사용이 초래할 위험성에 대해 강조한다. 다른 한편으로 저자는 재물을 올바르게 사용하여 ‘구원’에 이르게 된 경우들을 보여줌으로써 (특별히, 재물 사용의 부정적 사례들과 대조하는 방식으로) 재물의 올바른 사용을 장려하고 있음을 보게 된다. 이 논문은 누가-행전의 저자가 재물 사용의 부정적 사례를 제시할 때, 희랍-로마의 역사 기술에서 흔히 사용된 ‘비극적 역사’ 문체를 활용하고 있음을 보여준다. 이러한 문체의 활용은 ‘나눔의 윤리’를 독자들과 보다 더 효과적으로 소통시키려는 목적을 위한 것이었다고 보인다. 한편, 이 논문은 한 걸음 더 나아가 누가-행전의 저자는 윤리가 신앙과 불가분의 관계에 있음을 여러 번 반복해서 강조하고 있음에도 주목한다. 누가-행전의 저자는 수평적인 나눔이 수직적인 경건과 나란히 가야함을 일관되게 강조하고 있다고 여겨진다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

It is well known that Luke-Acts shows great interest in the proper use of possessions. In this paper, I will survey selective passages that encourage us to use possessions properly, while admonishing those who use them improperly. In doing so, I will attempt to demonstrate that the ethic of Luke-Acts is related to “sharing possessions.” Luke-Acts points out “greed/desire for more” or “indifference” as main factors that hinder Christians from sharing their possessions with others, especially those in need. Luke-Acts shows the end result of greed to be tragic disasters. Thereby, Luke-Acts warns the danger of using possessions improperly. On the other hand, Luke-Acts presents recommendable examples of using possessions in the right way that leads to salvation. Its purpose is to encourage people to follow exemplary persons illustrated in the narrative. To make its point clear, Luke-Acts contrasts positive examples to negative ones in terms of using possessions. In this paper, I will also try to show that the author uses ‘tragic history" style, which has been popular in the tradition of Greco-Roman historiography, particularly in describing negative cases of using possessions. Given the popularity of ‘tragic history" style, the purpose of employing it in Luke-Acts seems to more effectively communicate its message with readers. Furthermore, in this paper, I seek to demonstrate that the author repeatedly emphasizes the close relationship between the Christian ethic shown in its use of possessions and the salvation. The author of Luke-Acts consistently highlights that horizontal sharing with others in need goes together with vertical piety to God.
