헤르만 바빙크의 『기독교 신앙 안내서』의 역사적 배경과 신학적인 내용 연구 = Herman Bavinck’s Guidebook for Instruction in Christian Religion: A Study on its Historical Backgroun and the Theological Contents.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

헤르만 바빙크는 『개혁교의학』과 『개혁파 윤리학』을 저술한 개혁신학자로 널리 알려져 있다. 특히 양 저술이 영어와 한국어 등으로 번역됨에 따라 그의 신학에 관한 연구는 왕성하게 진행되고 있다. 그는 분명 개혁신학의 거장으로 신학자들, 신학생들, 그리고 목회자들을 위한 중요한 길잡이 역할을 해주고 있는 현실이다. 하지만 그는 전문가들을 위한 신학 작업만 수행했던 것이 아니라, 대학생들이나 고등학생들을 위한 교리 교육 교재를 출간하기도 했다는 점은 간과하기 쉬운 일이다. 최근에 한글로 완역된 『기독교 신앙 안내서』는 바빙크가 고등학생들을 위해 집필한 교리 교육 교재이다. 이 책의 출간에 즈음하여, 논자는 이 글에서 『기독교 신앙 안내서』에 대한 배경적인 연구와 내용에 대해 논의하였다. 먼저 II 절에서는 본서의 역사적 배경, 저술 동기, 그리고 그 구조에 대해 논구해 보았다.
이어지는 III 절에서는 20장으로 구성된 본서의 내용들을 간략하게 분석하고 개관해 보았다. 이러한 연구를 통해 우리는 바빙크가 고등학생의 눈높이에 맞추어 간단하고 명쾌한 방식의 스타일로 본서를 전개하고 있다는 것을 확인하게 되었다. 또한 그러한 수준의 책이어도 본서를 통해서도 바빙크는 개혁주의 신학자로서의 기량을 선명하게 보여주고 있다는 점도 확인하게 되었다. 본서는 교회 현장에서 교리 교육 교재로 사용하기에도적합하지만, 또한 바빙크 신학에의 안내서 역할도 할 것으로 기대된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Herman Bavinck is widely known as a reformed theologian who wrote Reformed Dogmatics and Reformed Ethics. Since both works have been translated into English and Korean, research on his theology has been actively conducted. He is a master of reformed theology and serves as an important guide for theologians, seminarians, and pastors.
However, it is easy to overlook that he not only performed theological work for professionals but also published catechetical education textbooks for college and high school students. The recently translated Guidebook for Instruction in Christian Religion is the textbook for catechetical education textbook written by Bavinck for high school students. On the occasion of the publication of this book, I discussed the background research and contents of the Guidebook for Instruction in Christian Religion in this paper. Firstly, in Section II, I discuss the historical background, motive for writing, and structure of this book. In Section III, I briefly analyzed and provided an overview of the contents of this book, which consists of 20 chapters. Through this examination, we have confirmed that Bavinck developed this book in a simple and clear style suitable for high school students. We have also confirmed that even at this level, Bavinck demonstrates his skills as a reformed theologian through this book. This book is suitable for use as a teaching material for doctrine in church settings, but it is also expected to serve as a guide to Bavinck’s theology.
