Four-month-old infants (n=42) were compared their growth performance(weight, length, head circumference, chest circumference, upper arm circumference, triceps skinfold thickness) by feeding methods in Seoul city, crosssectionally. There were two groups : breast-fed(BF) and formula-fed groups(FF).
The weights of infants at 4 postpartum month were 7.40±0.8㎏, 7.3±0.8㎏ of BF and FF, respectively. The weight of male infants was higher than females, significantly. The length were 64.1±3.4 ㎝, 62.2±3.4㎝ of male and female infants, respectively. The length of male infants was higher than females, too. Overall there were no significant differences between feeding methods in weight, length, head and chest circumference, upper arm circumference and triceps skinfold thickness. From this survey, long-term survey on growth and development of large scales might be necessary to determine the effect of feeding methods of infants after 4 months and to set proper assessment of infants. And it was suggested that the careful attention of polarized nutritional problems of early infants was needed.
