Rev. Kim, Sam-whan, who once was just a bell-ringer of a small church in the countryside but now has become a founder of Special Early Morning Prayer Rally, is successfully ministering Myungsung Presbyterian Church seven years as a day, for the last 35 years. His secret is that he keeps his faith in God by holding on to the train of Jesus’ robe and devoting himself to praying early in the morning with the servanthood for the Lord in his heart. Thanks to his desperate prayer and dedication to the theology and ministry of early morning prayer, he could spread the wave of grace in and out of Korea. He has served God and the people with good understanding and wisdom he got from early morning prayer. First, Rev. Kim’s theology of prayer - its definition, necessity, content, and means - is thoroughly based on the Calvin’s thought and reformed theology.1) Second, Rev. Kim’s theology of early morning prayer has a Biblical, historical, pastoral, and empirical basis. His theology of Special Early Morning Prayer is based on the right faith and theology, bearing the best fruits in various fields. He has embodied an outstanding balance and harmony between the theory and practice of prayer. Third, Rev. Kim is the founder and promoter of Special Early Morning Prayer Rally. Succeeding the Korean Church’s tradition of early morning prayer and Bible reading night watch, he invented the Special Early Morning Prayer Rally and has had great influences on the Christian Church around the world. He has contributed to the wide spread of early morning prayer movement not only in Korea but also around the world. Now Myungsung Presbyterian Church’s Special Early Morning Prayer Rally is the world class of spiritual brand and the Spiritual hallyu (the Korean Wave) as well. Fourth, Rev. Kim has studied a theology of prayer and greatly contributed to the church growth both in quantity and quality through the practice of early morning prayer movement. His achievement has set a signpost, to which all theological studies and ministries should look. Fifth, Rev. Kim, Sam-whan’s wholistic and multidimensional mission and redemptional vision of early morning prayer are a great value and goal to enlarge the Kingdom of God.
