다의적 융합 개념의 이해를 통한 과학기술과 인문사회 간 융합연구 촉진방안 = A Study on Fostering Convergence of Science and Technology with Humanities and Social Science by Understanding Various Dimensions of Convergence

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Although the importance of convergent technology is widely recognized, there are not enough convergent research and development(R&D) among sciences, technology, humanities and social sciences. This study starts to refine the concept of convergence by reviewing previous studies, because the multiplicity and ambiguity of the concept make it difficult for consensus on the research direction and goal between researchers from various disciplines. In order to facilitate convergent research of science and technology with humanities and social science, this study attempts to provide various dimensions of the concept of “convergence” and embrace the concept into the Korean research and development(R&D) support system. By identifying several characteristics of the concept such as gradual changes and development of convergent research, the following recommendations are suggested; understanding on the interdisciplinary research as a form of convergence studies, various financial research support system, and introducing performance measurements reflecting the characteristics of convergence studies.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

학문 연구에 있어 다양한 학문분야 간 소통을 통한 융합연구 활성화에 대한 사회적 공감대 형성에도 불구하고, 우리나라의 융합연구는 과학기술들 사이의 기술융합을 중심으로 이뤄지고 있다. 과학기술과 인문사회과학 간 융합연구는 매우 더딘 상황이다. 선행연구들은 융합을 당위적으로 받아들여야 할 대상으로 인식하고 융합이라는 개념에 대해 아주 포괄적인 수준에서 합의하고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 선행연구의 한계를 극복하기 위해 융합에 대한 개념적 논의를 바탕으로 과학기술과 인문사회 간 융합연구 활성화를 위한 정책 제언을 도출하였다. 융합이 관계의 집중도, 중심 학문분야, 상호연계성 등에 따라 단계적 발전의 특성을 보이며, 이로 인해 융합연구는 그 성과가 가시화되는데 상당한 시일이 소요된다. 이에 과학기술과 인문사회 간의 융합연구를 활성화하기 위해서는 융합연구의 한 가지 유형으로서 초학제 연구를 인식할 필요가 있으며; 융합연구에 대한 단계적 연구지원이 이뤄져야 하며; 융합연구의 성과 지연성을 고려한 성과평가제도가 도입되어야 하며; 인문사회기반 융합연구 관련 인력 양성에도 관심을 기울여야 한다는 점을 제시하였다.
