평가자 집단에 따른 영어 액센트 식별 정확도 연구

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study investigates the identification accuracy of English accents with 4 different speaker groups(Korean, Japanese, and Chinese learners of English as well as native speakers of English). The speakers of each group were asked to read a paragraph of English sentences. And 4 different groups of listeners(American, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese) were asked to identify the speakers’ native language and evaluate the goodness of their English pronunciation. The results showed that all listener groups demonstrated an identification accuracy of 100% or close to 100% far the native speakers’ English accents and each non-native listener group indicated a higher accuracy when they share the native language with the speakers. The results also showed that the American listener group indicated a much lower identification accuracy for non-native English accents. This suggests that exposure to foreign accents affects the identification accuracy of foreign accents.
