      T-joint fillet welds are extensively used in the production of many enginering and structural components. Due to thelocalized heating and subsequent cooling, highly non-uniform temperature distributions occur across the filet welds and thebase metal, ...

      T-joint fillet welds are extensively used in the production of many enginering and structural components. Due to thelocalized heating and subsequent cooling, highly non-uniform temperature distributions occur across the filet welds and thebase metal, which finaly result in undesired residual stresses. The combination of high-tensile residual stresses in the regionnear the weld and applied operating tensile streses can be detrimental to the integrity and the service behaviour of the weldednalthermal elastic-plastic finite element analysis. Moreover, stres behaviour in T-joint fillet welds under superimposed mechanicalloading is further investigated. Results of residual stresses induced by the T-joint filet welding process and stress behaviourunder superimposed mechanical tensile loads are discused in detail.
