선사 소요태릉(逍遙太能) 사상의 특징과 시적 표현에 관한 연구 = A Study on the Features of Seon Master Soyo Taeneung's Thought and its Poetic Expression

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문의 목적은 조선 중기 척불에 맞서 불교를 변호한 소요태능(逍遙太能, 1562~1649)의 법맥과 선사상의 특징, 그리고 시적 세계를 고찰하는데 있다. 특히 탁월한 시적 재능과 상상력을 지닌 소요태능은 선교회통의 사상을 기저로 한 주옥같은 시문학을 남기고 있다. 그 결과물이 『소요당집』이다. 여기에는 구도의 여정과 깨달음, 선교회통의 사유, 자연교감과 합일, 선기 넘치는 격외와 시법(示法)의 시편들이 실려 있다. 이 논문에서 필자는 그의 법맥과 선사상의 특징과 그것이 어떻게 시심으로 형상화 되고 있는가를 조명하였다. 그의 사상의 근간이 되고 있는 선교일치의 원융사상과 직관적 사유가 모든 사물과 현상, 사상과 이념을 분별하지 않고 하나로 일체화 하여 시적으로 표현하는데서 잘 드러나고 있음을 밝혔다. 결국 그의 이러한 시적 세계들은 고도의 상징과 역설적인 선어로 무심의 세계를 담아내고 있다 할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this essay is to look into the features of Seon master SoyoTaeneung(1562~1649)'s Seon thought and its poetic expression. In particular, SoyoTaeneung, having an eminent poetic talent and imagination, produced gem-like poetry based on the unification of Seon and the Doctrinal School, trying to protect Buddha-dharma under the severe Buddhist repression. The Collection of SoyoTaeneung's Literature is the outcome of poetic expression of Seon mind.
Above all, succeeding to Imjaeseon, he stressed Gyeokwoiseon(Meditation outside words and formulary), which cannot be perceived with mind or without mind. Basing on these practical expedients, SoyoTaeneung tried to find the original face, Buddha nature. The core of his poetic expression is the very ‘Perfect Unification,’ which is well revealed in poetic description unifying all objects/phenomena, thought/idea without discriminating them. As a result, his poetic product is the expression of ‘No-mind’ based on succinct, condensed dictions as well as high images and paradox.
