In Korea there have been matters such as centralization of the urban population as well as the expansion of the metropolitan area due to rapid economic growth since the 1970s. The severe housing and housing sites shortage in urban areas caused by these phenomena have emerged as politically or socially important policy challenges. However, for the purpose of constructing insufficient housing, we have focused on increasing the quantity of housing. As a result alternatives about residential environment like qualitative issues of building houses are insufficient. In other words, we lack the effort and attitude to evaluate the existing housing environment or try to actively improve it. With this situation,we have conducted a survey on whether there would be regional differences and the differences of the types of residence through residential satisfaction between owner housing residents and rental housing residents at Jeonju, Iksan and Gunsan. Based on the result of this paper, we have found that residents who live in owner houses feel more satisfied than residents who live in rental houses in all areas. In fact the larger houses they lived in, the more they felt satisfied regardless of plans to move. Their plans to move were related to external factors like new apartment, children's education, and the room numbers and size. From now on the residential satisfaction studies which reflect residential properties will have to be conducted including the various layers and housing types. In addition studies which are continually progressed should be carried out in order to improve satisfaction of rental housing residents using the comprehensive analysis through refining and expanding the scope of dimensions of analysis.
