The present study was performed to analyze contents of the new and the former editions of the Korean high school biology teacher`s guides Ⅱ and compare each other, obtaining the following results: 1. The new and the former editions of teacher`s guides comprise elements describing the general aspects and detailed expositions in which concrete guiding principles were explained. 2. The new edition id different conspicuously in that it emphasizes evaluation and that the explanation of the contents of new teaching materials is somewhat diversified and new. 3. Teaching objectives of the new edition are stressed on the aspect of scientific inquiry more than those of the former edition. 4. In the biology teacher`s guide Ⅱ of the new edition, the themes are stressed on $quot;structure and function$quot; and the level, $quot;molecule$quot;. Comparing the new edition to the former, the new edition concentrates on $quot;molecule$quot; whereas the former, $quot;individual$quot; in level and the new editions stress on $quot;genetic continuity$quot; whereas the former, $quot;diversity and unity$quot; in the themes. 5. The connection of the biology textbook and the biology teacher`s guides of the new edition is done better than in the former edition. 6. The former edition presents the learning activities not treated in the new one and the explanation of the contents is systematic to be given a great help to guide but the description of content is simple and makes memory the prime object. The new edition provides a new knowledge, introduces new theories the explains new concepts and it shows a desirable approach to the scientific inquiry. Since explanation of concept remains unsystematic and fragmented, the new biology teacher`s guide alone is not enough to make satisfactory preparation for instruction.
