In this study, the instantaneous temperature probes were developed for the experimental measurement of instantaneous surface temperature on the combustion chamber walls of the DI mono cylinder diesel engine. The heat flux were measured on the cylinder head, piston crown and cylinder liner. The heat quantity flowing out to the cylinder liner through the piston rings could be calculated using the measured temperature data of both piston rings and liner. Cylinder liner receives heat from both sources; one is from the combustion gas and the other is from the piston rings. The percentage of heat from the rings was almost the same as that of from the combustion gas.<br/>
