It is worth noticing that there are images of small space in the poems of Roh Geung. The space was for his escape when he was hurt in the life of reality. In the space, he refused to compromise with the world and tried to keep his clear, solid spirit. The poet, however, realized himself that the real world was the foundation of his being. He then attempted to take the challenge of the world through his unconventional poems. His poetry is characterized by freedom from the old fashion, tone of voice in spoken language, and rich playfulness. In his poems, he criticized the ruling power, satirized the empty formalities of empty scholars, and expressed his doubts about the teachings of saints. His poetic strategy was to resist the negative world by creating unconventional poems. His poetry is even more significant because it searched for a new life ideal beyond resistance against the world. The poet especially devoted himself to the creation of unconventional poems that revealed his true feelings vividly, which is why his poems often depict his affection for his family and acquaintances, love between man and woman, and condolence for the deceased. It was because he was deeply frustrated with the pretentious attitude of the ruling class or vulgar scholars. Putting an emphasis on true feelings, he defined the simple life of farmers as an ideal life and described his tough life in a positive tone in his poems.
