데카르트 『성찰』의 신 존재 증명과 새로운 관념이론 = 선험성과 후험성의 의미에 대한 재고

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Descartes`s Meditations contain three proofs of God`s existence. They have been considered to be different in nature, called respectively as ‘a posteriori proof’ (or demonstration through causality) and as ‘a priori’ (or demonstration through essence), and associated, at least in their form, with the proof of St. Thomas and with that of St. Aselm. Putting emphasis on the fact that ‘the idea of God’ serves as the common point of departure for each of the three proofs, I argue, first, the nervus probandi of all three demonstrations are the same: each of them is proven from God`s essence and at the same time via causality. Why then has this unity of the three proofs been received so little attention? I show, secondly, that this is due to the tenacious neglect of Descartes`s new conception of ideas, namely the ontological positivity and the activity of ideas. Does this mean that the three proofs of Meditations can be reduced into one of them? I answer in the negative and argue finally that despite this unity each proof has its own function, irreducible one to another, which can be explained by the various aspects of the activity of ideas, as are deployed according to the ‘order,’ imposed by the analytic method of Mediations.
