국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 다문화가정 청소년의 흡연 경험이 우울감을 매개로 자살 생각에 미치는 영향과 매개효과에서의 성별 차이의 분석을 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위해 청소년건강행태온라인조사의 2016년 원자료를 활용하여 다문화가정 청소년의 흡연 경험이 자살 생각에 미치는 직접적 영향, 우울감을 매개로 하는 간접적 영향, 우울감의 매개효과에 있어서의 성별 차이를 회귀분석을 통해 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 주요 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 기술통계 분석의 결과 다문화가정 청소년 열 명 중 약 두 명이 흡연과 자살 생각의 경험이 있었으며, 대략 세 명 중 한 명이 우울감을 경험하였다. 둘째, 회귀분석의 결과 다문화가정 청소년의 흡연 경험은 자살 생각에 유의미한 정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 다문화가정 청소년의 우울감이 흡연 경험과 자살 생각의 관계를 부분적으로 매개하는 것으로 분석되었다. 넷째, 성별 차이 분석의 결과 흡연 경험과 자살 생각의 관계에서 우울감의 매개효과는 여자청소년에게서만 나타났다. 이상의 결과를 토대로 다문화가정 청소년의 자살 관련 문제에 개입하기 위한 실천적 방안을 논의하였다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating role of depression in the association between smoking behavior and suicidal ideation among adolescents in multicultural families in South Korea, with particular attention given to investigating the gender difference in the mediating role of depression. Using data from the 2016 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-Based Survey, this study utilized regression models to analyze the association between smoking behavior and suicidal ideation, the mediating role of depression, and the gender difference in the mediating role of depression. The results showed that smoking behavior was positively associated with a higher likelihood of having suicidal ideation among adolescents in multicultural families. It was also found that multicultural adolescents’ depression partially mediated the association between smoking behavior and suicidal ideation. In addition, the mediating role of depression in the association between smoking behavior and suicidal ideation was found for female adolescents, but not for male adolescents. Based on the findings, social work implications were provided for addressing and preventing suicide-related behavior among adolescents in multicultural families.
