전통조각보와 현대의 업사이클링 디자인 연구

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Solving the environmental pollution caused by industrialization and mass production is ultimately for the health and happiness of the humankind. Accordingly the environment-friendly design such as green and echo-design becomes the core concept in the field of design, too. Now there are two major areas of growing interest. Recycling design is recycling the materials themselves and Upcycling design is designing the recycled materials into rebirth of more valuable products.
We can find the recycling design in our Korean traditional culture. Frugal Korean women cut and patched cloth remnants or intact parts of tattered clothes into a useful household goods, the patchwork, Jogakbo.
This study is to cast new light upon Jogakbo as recycling design and review the various cases of recycling design from both domestic and overseas. This will contribute to the awareness of environmental preservation and also present the new direction of design which meets the various needs of consumers who are tired of uniformity of mass products.
