Recently traditional elements have been combined with modern design and used in various fields. This study aims to suggest the direction of design using traditional elements by collecting examples of modern reinterpreted brands using traditional elements among Korean and Japanese brands and analyzing features and expression methods. As a result of comparing and analyzing the characteristics of Japanese and Korean brands that produce products using traditional elements through this study, it was found that the types of product lines were similar in both countries. In both Korea and Japan, brands that applied traditional elements to products were mainly clothing and fashion miscellaneous goods brands in both countries. Analyzing the differences, Korean brands seem to have a strong tendency to recreate the existing motifs with modern designs rather than bringing them as they are. On the other hand, Japanese brands did not tend to significantly alter traditional forms or techniques.
