Using 920 employees in public enterprises and banking organizations, this study examines their perceptions of organizational politics and the relationships between organizational citizenship behaviors, which are the
positive outcome variables of their organizational citizenship behavior, and their job strains and turnover intentions, which are the negative outcome variables of organizational members. The mediating effect of their perceived organizational support is also studied. It is found out that their perceptions of organizational politics have a meaningful negative effect on the organizational citizenship behaviors of organizational members, which are the positive outcome variables, while they have a meaningful positive effect on their job
strains and turnover intentions, which are the negative outcome variables. These results reveal that perceptions of organizational politics have a very negative effect on the organizational performance and that it is better to limit or control perceptions of organizational politics, if possible. This study also investigates the mediating effect of perceived organizational support in the relationships between perceptions of organizational politics and the three outcome variables. It is found out that perceptions of organizational
politics has a partial mediating effect on organizational politics and their outcome variables such as organizational citizenship behaviors, job strains, and turnover intentions. This shows that it is possible to control to a certain degree the negative outcome of organizational politics through perceived organizational support.
