Building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) system can be considered an effective solution for achieving zero-energy apartments. To ensure efficient implementation, it is necessary to conduct an investigation of the elevation characteristics of the apartments beforehand. To this end, this study conducted an elevation investigation of 31 apartment complexes in South Korea. To conduct the elevation analysis, the apartment types were classified as either rental or sale, and the analysis was focused on the household area type with the highest frequency for each category. The methodology and key findings of this study are expected to serve as fundamental data for the implementation of BIPV system in apartment buildings.
