This study is designed to see the effects of group art therapy on self-efficiency on people with intellectual disabilities. The subjects of this study were 45 or less of the total score of self - efficacy scale among intellectual disability adults living in D living facilities in K city. Twenty adult males and females who guardian agreed to the purpose of the study and who wished to participate in the art therapy program. These 20students were separated to two groups which were assigned to experimental group and control group. The program was conducted from March to April 2018 twice a week, for 90 minutes for each session, for a total of 12 sessions.
The research tool was a general measure of self-effectiveness used to measure self-efficiency of people with intellectual disabilities, developed by Sherer and Maddux (1982), and Goh (1998) was adapted to the people with intellectual disabilities, and Kang Yea-Kyeong(2013) translated the general self-efficacy scale
Processing of data was done using the SPSS Statistics Version 22.0 program as follows : The independent sample t-test was conducted with the preliminary scores of two groups to verification of homogeneity of experimental group and control group. In order to verify the effectiveness of the program, the Repeated Measure ANOVA was performed using the pre - and post-scan scores of the experimental group and the atmospheric control group, simple main effects analysis was performed by time and group and then compared.
The results of this study showed that group art therapy is effective in promoting initiative and effort in adults with intellectual disabilities, except for patience, among other factors.
