알파세대의 등장과 사회과 교육의 방향 탐색: 한나 아렌트의 ‘판단’ 개념을 중심으로 = Exploring the Direction of Social Studies Education in the Age of Generation Alpha : Focusing on Hannah Arendt’s Concept of 'Judgment'

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 한나 아렌트(Hannah Arendt)가 제시한 ‘판단’ 개념이 첨예한 갈등의 시대를 살아가는 알파세대에게주는 시사점을 분석하여 사회과교육의 방향성을 탐색하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 먼저 현재 한국 사회에서 나타나는주요 사회 문제와 알파세대의 특성을 고찰하였으며, 이러한 현실을 시민교육의 핵심 교과인 사회과교육에서는 어떻게다루고 있는지 분석하여 양자 간의 간극을 도출하였다. 이어 아렌트의 판단 개념의 의미와 작동 과정을 정리하고, 현 시대를 살아가는 알파세대에게 어떤 교육적 의미를 갖는지 분석하였다. 분석한 결과, 아렌트의 판단 개념은 개인주의가만연한 세태에서 타인과 소통하는 공적 담론장의 중요성을 일깨우고, 사적 영역을 벗어나 소통할 수 있는 방안을제시하고 있다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이를 바탕으로 사회과교육의 방향성을 크게 ‘나’와 마주하고, ‘너’와 다름을이해하기’, ‘공동체 일원으로서 책임감과 연대의식 갖기’로 제시하였으며, 나아가 이러한 방향이 교육 현장에 반영될수 있도록 교육과 내 성취기준의 구체적 수정 방안을 함께 제안하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to analyze the implications of Hannah Arendt’s concept of ‘judgment’ for Generation Alpha, who are growing up in an age of conflict, and to explore its educational applications in the context of social studies education. To this end, the study first examines major social issues in contemporary Korean society and the generational characteristics of Generation Alpha. It then analyzes how these realities are reflected in social studies education, the core subject of civic education, and identifies the gap between lived experience and curricular content. The study further investigates the theoretical foundations and operational dynamics of Arendt’s concept of judgment and explores its pedagogical relevance for Generation Alpha in the current context. The analysis revealed that Arendt’s concept highlights the importance of public discourse as a means of communication in a world dominated by individualism and proposes a practical approach to engagement beyond the private sphere. Based on these findings, the study proposes two key directions for social studies education: ‘facing the self and understanding the other’ and ‘cultivating a sense of responsibility and solidarity as members of a community’. Furthermore, it suggests concrete revisions to the national curriculum’s achievement standards to facilitate the practical implementation of these directions in educational practice.
