The purpose of this study was to develop the self-evaluation scale for early childhood teacher. The final scale is consisted of 39 items for the early childhood teacher's own quality and factors have proven important in teacher performance and productive skills.
The early childhood teacher self-evaluation scale was developed as following procedure. This study included step I, step II, step III. and step IV.
The step I was based on both literature review and survey. The first scale contained 72 items in 6 sub-areas of 2 major areas.
The step II used the scale consisted of 55 items in 6 sub-areas of 2 major areas with 5-point rating selected at step I. The subject of this step were 20 specialists including kindergarten directors, instructors and professors of early childhood education. These 20 specialists evaluated the 55 item-scale.
The step III used the scale consisted of 55 items in 6 sub-areas of 2 major areas. 188 early childhood teachers rated this 5 point rating scale whether each item of this scale is adoptable.
The step IV used the scale consisted of 44 items in 6 sub-areas of 2 major areas. self-evaluation degree at the same time. 246 early childhood teachers rated this 5 point rating scale whether each item of this scale is adoptable. After various item analysis, final version of the self-evaluation scale is considered as a proper assessment tool for early childhood teacher. Several educational suggestions were discussed.
