      The Purpose of this study is to explore the different effects of using well-structured task and ill-structured task on learning process and learning outcome in wiki-based collaborative learning environment. For the purpose 40 students participated in two times wiki-based collaborative learning tasks. The first task was a well-structured task and the second task was an ill-structured task. The quantitative and qualitative data of both learning process and learning outcome showed that students more actively participated in well-structured task than in ill-structured task. To give in-depth explanations on the results, researchers conducted a survey and interviews. The data of the survey and interviews were analyzed by causal chain analysis method. The results indicated that learners felt more difficulty in ill-structured task because they did not know how to solve the problems and what they have to study. In addition, the learners needed some new tools such as more specifically defined discussion boards, synchronous communication channels, and familiar editing tools to enhance wiki collaboration especially in ill-structured learning task environment. Based on the needs, some practical guidelines of ill-structured task use are suggested at the end of this study.
