The purpose of this study is to analyze the writing examination questions for the Secondary School English Teachers" Employment Examination offered in 2012. This study analyzes the examination questions in terms of item type and pedagogical content knowledge. The results of this study can be summarized as, first, general English being integrated into English Education with more emphasis placed on practice; and second, concerning pedagogical content knowledge, there was nothing relating to an understanding of student needs, curriculum, and social context. It is suggested that better integration of the various areas is needed. In addition, sample answers and scoring criteria should be made available to students preparing to sit the exam. The Secondary School English Teachers" Employment Examination is periodically revised, and the results of this study can be used to develop future versions of the Teachers" Examination.
