As we enter the information age of the 21st century, information and communication technology has developed rapidly, which has greatly changed the corporate marketing environment and the individual's living environment. Modern people have broken away from the monotonous and uniform consumption patterns of the past and have a lifestyle of diverse values according to changes in their lives, and have come to select and consume media content according to specific motivations to satisfy their needs. In the flood of new media, beauty content is one of the contents that is rapidly developing among various contents. As the world's interest in the beauty culture popular in Korea has increased due to the recent Korean wave, fast and efficient information is provided not only domestically but also overseas. It is used as a tool for sharing and communication. As informatization and internationalization spread throughout society, and consumers become more diversified and individualized, modern people's interest in beauty-related content is increasing, and beauty management behavior is due to changes in consumption trends due to the expansion of women's social activities and improved living standards. Interest and investment are also increasing. Therefore, in this study, we investigate the impact of lifestyle and beauty content characteristics on beauty management behavior and test whether beauty content characteristics have a mediating effect in the relationship between lifestyle and beauty management behavior to develop an efficient beauty content marketing strategy according to lifestyle. The purpose of the study was to provide data to establish and suggest consumer marketing methods for each type of beauty care. Furthermore, we aim to make academic contributions by preparing basic data for beauty management behavior marketing through uantitative research in the rapidly changing and diversifying lifestyle and beauty content fields.
For the empirical investigation, a self-administered survey was conducted on men and women in their 20s to 50s who live in Korea and have experience using beauty content from May 1 to May 31, 2023, and 500 copies were ultimately used for analysis. It was used as data, and frequency analysis, factor analysis, and reliability analysis were conducted using SPSS 25.0 program. Additionally, t-test, daily and monthly analysis of variance, post hoc Duncan test, multiple regression analysis, and mediation regression analysis were used to identify relationships between variables. As a result of factor analysis, lifestyle was derived into five factors: aesthetic orientation, fashion orientation, personality orientation, practical orientation, and exhibitionism orientation, and beauty content characteristics were five factors: information, entertainment, interactivity, reliability, and immersion. It was derived as a factor, and beauty management behavior was derived as two factors: appearance management behavior and body shape behavior management.
A summary of the research results of this study is as follow as.
First, as a result of identifying the impact of lifestyle on the characteristics of beauty content, Among lifestyles, aesthetic orientation, fashion orientation, and practicality orientation were found to have a statistically significant positive (+) influence on information, and among lifestyle styles, aesthetic orientation, fashion orientation, exhibitionism orientation, and individuality orientation were found to have a statistically significant positive influence on entertainment. It was found to have a positive (+) influence, and personality orientation, fashion orientation, and practicality orientation among lifestyles were found to have a statistically significant positive (+) influence on interactivity.
In addition, personality orientation, fashion orientation, practicality orientation, and show-off orientation were found to have a statistically significant positive (+) influence on trustworthiness, and among lifestyle styles, fashion-orientation, personality orientation, show-off orientation, and practicality orientation were found to have a statistically significant positive influence on immersion. It was found to have a significant positive (+) effect. The research results showed that
lifestyle influences the way beauty content is selected and consumed. Therefore, even if you produce content on one topic, you will need to find a variety of fresh information composition and methods according to your lifestyle.
Second, as a result of the hypothesis testing that lifestyle will have a positive (+) influence on beauty management behavior, lifestyle was found to have a statistically significant positive (+) influence on beauty management behavior, including aesthetic orientation and fashion orientation. , personality orientation was found to have a statistically
significant positive (+) influence on appearance management behavior, and among lifestyles, fashion orientation, personality orientation, and practicality orientation had a statistically significant positive (+) influence on body shape management behavior. It was found that Through these research results, it was found that lifestyle affects
one's aesthetic desires and beauty management behavior. Third, as a result of identifying the impact of beauty content
characteristics on beauty management behavior, information, immersion, and entertainment among beauty content characteristics were found to have a statistically significant positive (+) influence on appearance management behavior. Immersion, interactivity, and reliability were found to have a statistically significant positive (+) effect on body
shape management behavior. Fourth, as a result of verifying whether beauty content characteristics have a mediating effect in the relationship between lifestyle and beauty management behavior, it was found that beauty content characteristics mediate the relationship between lifestyle and beauty management behavior by sub-factor. Through these research results, it was found that consumers' lifestyles affect their aesthetic desires and beauty interest and management behavior. Considering the results above, it was found that lifestyle influences beauty content characteristics and beauty management behavior, and beauty content characteristics influence beauty management behavior. This shows that it is important to track changes in consumer lifestyles and beauty content characteristics seen in various aspects and to understand the interaction with actual consumption behavior in relation to beauty content characteristics. The purpose of this study was to provide data to establish an efficient beauty content marketing strategy according to lifestyle and to suggest consumer marketing methods by beauty management type.
In addition, the significance of this study is to make academic contributions by providing basic data for beauty management behavior marketing through quantitative research in the rapidly changing and diverse field of lifestyle and beauty content.
