The purpose of this studt was to examine the effects of aerobic exercise on adiponectin and PGC-1α expression of adipose cell and skeletal muscle in type 2 diabetic mouse adipose cell. The diabetic mice were divided into four groups: diabetic control group (DE-CON: n=10), diabetic low-intensity exercise group (DE-LE: n=10), diabetic middle-intensity exercise group (DE-ME: n=10), diabetic high-intensity exercise group (DE-HE: n=10), Mice were subjected to treadmill exercise (5 day/8 weeks).
After the 8 weeks' treadmill exercise, the HOMA-IR of insulin resistance was measured. As a result, a tendency was found that the HOMA-IR of insulin resistance was significantly reduced in the DE-LE group, compared to the DE-ME group and DE-HE(p<.05). and than, PGC-1a expression in the skeletal muscles was significantly increased in the exercise group, compared to the control groups(p<.05).
These results suggest that low-intensity exercise aid regulation glucose metabolism better than middle-intensity exercise and high-intensity exercise in the diabetic mice.
