This paper investigated composition and adaptation of <Miindo>. <Miindo> that was published by HoeDongSeoGuan in 1913 was based on <Chunhyangjeon> and <Hongbaghwajeon>. Because the relationship between <Chunhyangjeon> and <Miindo> suggested in previous studies, comparison of <Miindo> and <Hongdaghwajeon> is necessary. <Hongdaghwajeon> is a love story written in Chinese during the 18th century. <Miindo> was succeeded motif of <Hongdaghwajeon> which is a woman`s being disguised in a man`s clothes, a forced marriage, a picture of beautiful woman, a marriage between a woman in man`s disguise and a woman. However, the plot of woman-sufferings are caused marriage obstacle was new set. And each motif, combined with a certain person, and space is materialized as an individual episode. The main character and assistant characters are similar to the shape and abilities. Besides, The intervention of narrator was stand out. The role of narrator increase, narrator`s voice appears frequently, aspect of narrative is also diversified. This adaptation based on the familiar framework of the classic novel and contemporary reader`s interest, empathy and expectation. This is a <Miindo>`s features as a popular publication in the 1910s. In addition, compared with the <Miindo>, <Jeolse-miindo> that was published by SeChangSeoGuan in 1952 was a little different because of contemporary features.
