고양이 동물매개치료프로그램이 초등학생의 자아존중감과 사회성에 미치는 효과 |RISS 상세보기

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 코로나 19의 장기화로 초등학생이 부모와 갈등을 겪으며 변화된 자아존중감과 사회성의 문제를 해결하기 위해 고양이 동물매개치료 프로그램의 효과를 검증하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 제주 에 거주하는 12명의 초등학생을 대상으로 고양이 동물매개치료 프로그램을 실시하여 자아존중감과 사 회성 향상에 미치는 효과를 도출하였다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 고양이 동물매개치료 프로그램을 적용한 실험집단의 자아존중 감은 사전·사후 검사 결과 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 둘째, 고양이 동물매개치료 프로그램을 적용한 실 험집단의 사회성은 사전·사후 검사 결과 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 셋째, 질적 자료 분석 결과 초등학 생 대상 고양이 동물매개치료 프로그램은 자아존중감과 사회성 향상의 목적에 맞게 부합하였다 연구 결과를 종합해 보면, 고양이 동물매개치료프로그램이 초등학생의 자아존중감과 사회성에 긍정적 영향이 미치는 것을 보여준다. 이 결과는 동물매개치료의 다양한 치료도우미 동물의 필요성을 제시하고 있다. 또한, 고양이를 활용한 동물매개치료의 효과성을 제시한 기초 연구로서의 그 의의를 가진다.

This study aims to test the effectiveness of a cat-assisted therapy program to address issues of altered self-esteem and social skills in elementary school children due to prolonged conflicts with parents during the extended COVID-19 pandemic. To achieve this, a cat-assisted therapy program was implemented with 12 elementary school students residing in Jeju, and its effects on self-esteem and social skills were evaluated. The results of this study are as follows. First, the self-esteem of the experimental group that participated in the cat-assisted therapy program showed a significant difference between the pre- and post-tests. Second, the social skills of the experimental group also showed a significant difference between the pre- and post-tests. Third, qualitative data analysis confirmed that the cat-assisted therapy program met its objectives of enhancing self-esteem and social skills in elementary school children. In summary, the cat-assisted therapy program positively influenced the self-esteem and social skills of elementary school students. This result highlights the need for various therapy animals in animalassisted therapy. Additionally, it serves as foundational research demonstrating the effectiveness of cat-assisted therapy.
