訓고學初探 = The basic study of Hungo

국문 초록 (Abstract)

훈고학은 漢語文字學 전 영역을 아우르고, 훈고의 대상은 민속, 예술, 정치, 군사, 농경, 천문, 역법, 의례, 산천초목 등 자연현상을 망라한다. 訓고란 古籍의 字, 詞, 句 등의 ``알기 어려운 옛말을(고) 지금의 말로 쉽게 해석해내는(訓)`` 행위를 가리키고, 訓고學이란 고대 문헌언어를 해석하는 방법과 규율을 연구하는 학문을 가리킨다. 즉, 前代의 훈고재료와 前人의 훈고작업을 연구대상으로 삼는 학문으로, 훈고 행위를 통해 드러난 규율, 이론, 방법, 체제 등을 연구하고 체계화 하는 학문을 가리킨다. 아울러 古語의 새로운 연구방법과 이론을 계발하는 것 또한 훈고학의 임무이다. 정식으로 훈고를 수행한 사람들은 漢代 經學家들이었다. 훈고학가들은 경전 주석을 훈고의 실천대상으로 삼고, 문헌의 正文 뒤에 傳, 說, 解, 詮, 疏, 證, 고, 注, 正義 등등의 이름으로 주석을 가하기도 하고, 일정한 원칙에 의거 纂集, 編排한 훈고 材料集 혹은 訓고專書들을 생산해내기도 하였다. 훈고학은 東周시대부터 진행되어온 훈고행위를 기초로 형성되었고, 漢代 注釋과 訓고書가 생산되면서 정식 형성되었다. 訓고는 古今의 시간차, 사용 공간의 異同, 雅言과 俗語, 가차자의 사용 등으로 이를 소통하기 위해 생산되었다. 訓고는 文字異形의 판명, 詞義의 해석, 文意의 파악, 篇章과 語法의 분석, 名物, 制度, 習俗, 風習의 규명, 句讀의 확정과 誤謬의 정정을 주요 내용으로 한다. 훈고형식은 彼訓釋部分, 訓釋部分, 訓釋術語 등 3부분으로 이루어고, ``A는 B이다.``식의 直訓과 동일한 한 개의 詞로 意義가 相同, 相近한 몇 개의 詞를 訓釋하는 同訓, 특정한 ``詞``가 구체적 언어 환경 속에서 ``어떻게 쓰였나``를 규명하는 文意訓釋, 설명 중심의 下義界란 훈석방법을 사용하기도 한다. 訓고 재료는 纂集類, 考證類, 注解類가 있으며, 훈고학에서 문헌 중의 詞義를 규명하는 방법으로는 字의 형체분석을 통해 義를 규명하는 以形說義, 音을 중심으로 義를 규명하는 因聲求義, 句文의 비교를 통해 義를 규명하는 比較互證, 실제의 경험을 통해 義를 규명하는 훈고방법이 사용된다. 한문학뿐만이 아니라, 全 국학분야 발전을 위해서 훈고학의 보급이 필요하다. 훈고학의 도입은 간독, 비문 등 요즈음 새로이 발굴되고 있는 삼국시대 출토문헌을 우리 한문학계의 연구영역으로 편입시킬 수 있고, 국어나 전적 중의 한자의 音義에 대한 명확한 규명과, 경서를 비롯한 전적을 한층 깊고 새롭게 해독할 수 있을 것이다. 한문학계의 학문영역 확대와 학문발전을 한 단계 고조시키기 위해 훈고학의 도입은 매우 필요하다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The Study of Hungo (or the Exegetics) covers all areas of Chinese linguistics. The subject of the Hungo includes literature, history, and philosophy. Hungo indicates an ``action of interpreting the difficult languages of Chinese letters, words, and sentences in ancient books into the understandable modern words.`` The Study of Hungo includes the method of interpreting ancient literature and the study of discipline. Also, creating new study methods and theories regarding ancient languages is what we expect through the Study of Hungo. The people who began studying Hungo were the scholars of Confucian scriptures in the Han era. Hungo was studied in order to overcome the differences of languages caused from the gaps of time, regions, standard language and dialect, and the usage of borrowing characters. The main subject of Hungo includes interpretations of words and sentences, analysis of grammar, and explanation of the social systems and customs in the ancient times. The methods of identifying or ascertaining the meanings of words or phrases in the Study of Hungo are the following: Yihyungseolueo, the way of identifying meanings of words through the analysis of the shape of the characters; Insungkuueo, the way of identifying meanings using the sound of characters; Bigyohojeung, the way of identifying meanings through the comparison of sentences; Experience, the way of identifying meanings based on his/her own experiences. For the development of all studies of culture and heritage of the country as well as the study of Chinese literatures, disseminating the Study of Hungo is necessary. It is likely that studying Hungo is now essentially required to be able to take and study the recently excavated literatures such as Gandoc and words of gravestones from the era of the Three States as our own historical heritage.
